A Tribute To Raymond Depardon'S Olympic Games Photographs

From June 24th to September 24th, a monumental photographic journey from Paris to Saint-Denis will showcase Raymond Depardon's legendary photos taken during the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Mexico, Munich and Montreal between 1964 and 1976.
This year, the City of Paris has entrusted internationally renowned artists such as Claire Tancons, Mohammed El Khatib, Benjamin Millepied and Raymond Depardon to bring the Cultural Olympiad to life. Having already started in April, their task is to take over Parisian public spaces during festivities and events.
In addition to these major unifying events, the City of Paris will be setting up festive sites in every arrondissement throughout the summer as part of the "Paris fête les Jeux" program.



The City of Paris and Samsung, in association with the cultural agency "L'Art dans la Ville", pay tribute to Raymond Depardon's legendary photographs taken during the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Mexico City, Munich and Montreal between 1964 and 1976 .

This exceptional collection will be displayed on giant prints (between 200m2 and 1000m2) in the streets of Paris, around Olympic venues and as far away as Saint-Denis.

In the spirit of an Olympic relay, these black and white photos will be complemented by a series of previously unpublished color portrait photographs taken by Simon Depardon. These photographs will feature athletes from the French team competing at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.



More than a dozen photographs by Raymond and Simon Depardon will make up the largest open-air photographic trail ever created for public viewing.
